Wild Horses of Nevada
Nevada's wild horses are especially thrilling to see, probably because there are so many of them (around 250) and because of the presence of the cream gene so present in many of these horses, resulting in numerous buckskins, palaminos and cremellos. Of the several hundred in the various herds I think I found around 25 different horses in about an 8 hour span of time.
Cremello
According to Wikipedia, cream coat colors are described by their relationship to the three "base" coat colors: chestnut, bay, and black. Cremellos have a base coat of chestnut and carry two copies of the cream gene (referred to as "double diluted") instead of one like the palamino or buckskin. The cremellos have a light mane and tail but also a cream-colored hair coat, rosy pink skin and blue eyes. The coat of the cremello is often confused with being white but it is actually a light cream color. Some can be so light they appear to be white but if you compare them to a true white horse you will see that they are actually cream. They have rosy pink skin and blue eyes.
The cremello horses were very sweet. While I kept my distance from them, they chose to close the gap. As they inched closer to me, reaching within 10 feet of me, I kept scooting farther away. They were so curious it seemed yet not skittish. They were friendly and peaceful. I told them that if I were a wild horse I would want to be in their herd because they emulated tranquility.
